Q. How did you get into the beauty industry?

A. I was seventeen and I had probably worn a full face of makeup twice in my life. I was clueless about makeup, I needed some help on how to put it on! I think my idea of “full glam” included a whole lot of bronzer all over and some paw paw on my lips. So I decided to do a makeup course to give me some knowledge on how to apply it… Fast forward seven years, I have lived and breathed makeup ever since!

Q. Tip for gals wanting to become a make up artist?

A. You could be the best makeup artist in the world, but if you are not kind to your clients and listen to their needs, they will not return. Apart of your job is to help somebody feel confident!

Q. What is the best way to create the prefect base?

A. It is all in your prep…. you wouldn’t paint straight on a wall without prepping it would you? Thats what I always tell my clients. It is so important to apply the correct products on your skin before applying makeup. For me personally, its my moisturiser, primer and then foundation.

Q. Can you talk us through the cheeks and contouring?

A. The cheeks are my favourite part of any makeover, its where your glam comes to life. I prefer using a brush with natural hairs to apply a matte bronzer just under the cheek bones. This helps me to start creating the illusion of a higher, more defined cheek bone. After I am happy with the shadowing, I then apply my blush and highlight – I find this keeps everything looking a little more blended!

Q. Favourite MUSQ product to work with?

A. Creme foundation, duh! It is SUCH a beautiful product. I love that it has Shea Butter in it, because it helps to hydrate the skin and gives a little more of a dewy effect.

Q. Favourite beauty trend this season and how can we achieve it?

A. Skin, Skin, Skin! Keeping your skincare routine up to date and making sure that you have the correct base products for makeup to keep your making looking fresh and flawless.

Q. What does your everyday beauty routine look like?

A. That depends, where am I going?  To work – Brows, concealer, mascara and a highlighter. I’d rather have my highlight on than foundation – a glow always makes you look fresh! To a party, I go FULL GLAM! I’m talking stacked lashes, a hella smokey eye and some heavy contouring! Because thats the beauty about makeup, you can completely transform your face and its fun!

Q. Best beauty advice ever received?

A. Nobody should EVER feel like they NEED makeup, they should only ever enjoy it.

You can know a gal by her beauty bag

Your handbag is never without: Lip conditioner, I hate chapped lips!

Top 3 Makeup bag essentials: Beauty sponges, brush cleaner and my brushes.

Go to MUSQ product: Creme foundation in Sahara – I love the colour and coverage!

Karla's glam session with @cestvogue Base: Using crème foundation by @musqcosmetics in shade Maldives all over with Sahara as an under eye highlight. I also used Amazon to crème contour while setting over with translucent powder in Maldives.
