The Adelaide Cup falls on the second Monday of March every year and is one of the go to events of the calendar year here in SA. It is also that time when we here at MUSQ enjoy checking out the fashion and what’s trending in the marquees and around the track all whilst indulging in gourmet food and drinks. This race day we are catching up with one of our favourite beauties; Jamie Reilly to find out what this super stylish, mother of one will be rocking this Cup Day.
Q. Trends this race season?
A. We will see a few trends this season, lace will be huge, whites, blacks and gorgeous intricate details on headwear.
Q. What will you be wearing this year?
A. I think I will wear something lace, and loving the midi length at the moment.. stay tuned!
Q. How far in advance do you start preparing your race day look?
A. I usually go shopping a week or two before the day, its always hard with the weather, so I leave it at late as possible, but not too late, so I’m not stressed.
Q. Dress etiquette, talk us through it.
A. I always suggest to select an outfit that best reflects your style, but always with an elegant twist. Be polished and put together, and most importantly chose something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Be careful with how much skin you expose. My rule is if I am going above knee, I opt for a sleeve, and if I have a longer hemline, I can wear sleeveless. Chose one or the other, never do both. Lastly, comfortable footwear is a necessity. Don’t be the girl at the end of the day holding her shoes in her hand… never a good look!
Q. Name your top 3 key pieces on Cup Day?
A. Headpiece, Shoes, Lippy.
Q. What does your beauty routine look like in the lead up to Adelaide Cup?
A. If I have time, I love going in for a facial the day before, so my skin is nice and hydrated. If not, I just do a simple Face mask at home, my go-to is Glam Glow Clearing Mud Treatment. Of course a quick mani pedi before the big day.
Q. Best beauty advice you can give new and expecting mums?
A. Less is more. No one has time these days for fake lashes, and heavy makeup, we want easy, fresh and natural… and of course, glowy. I have found a great eye cream that gets me through, looking fresh, when sometimes I’m running on little sleep.
